Our Directors
Adrian Marlowe, qualified as a Solicitor in 1978 and was a partner in 3 firms before setting up Lawspeed as a consultancy in 1998. Adrian has a wide range of litigation and commercial expertise and has advised and written contracts for recruiters, IT and project consultancies since 1993. Adrian is responsible for development of many of our products and services including the widely accepted and effective Lawspeed contract templates . Often the primary spokesman at our seminars, he has spoken around the country and is widely regarded as a leading authority on "recruitment law". Adrian headed the Lawspeed team in negotiations with the DTI over the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations 2003 and lead our representation to HMRC over the MSC legislation.
Adrian is Chair of the trade body the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) which he set up in conjunction with Ravi Murphy early in 2009 to provide specific tools to recruiters and to represent recruiters on key issues affecting recruitment. ARC has taken a lead role in consultations relating to the Agency Workers Directive and has set up various campaigns to support the recruitment industry.
Adrian
specialises in commercial strategy, risk management, compliance issues, operating models (including umbrella) and recruitment law and process.
Ravi Murphy has a Business Management Post Graduate Diploma as well as passing the Solicitors qualification exams with distinction. Before joining Lawspeed in 2000 Ravi gained extensive experience in all areas of risk management having spent over 12 years working for a blue chip insurance company and a Lloyds Syndicate.
Ravi is a director of the trade body the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) (see above) which she and Adrian set up early in 2009.
Ravi specialises in contractual arrangements, commercial strategy, risk management, compliance issues and data protection as well as client relationships.
Rebecca Marlowe, also a co-director, has a marketing and strategies background having worked in recruitment following her graduation from Sussex University. Her experience ranges from working for administration and commercial generalists to engineering and IT supply and training specialists, for many years as a senior sales manager for a top 100 recruitment consultancy before taking up her role with Lawspeed in 2003.
Rebecca
specialises in recruitment process, commercial strategy, marketing, HR and internal affairs.
Our Legal Team
In addition to Adrian and Ravi, we are supported by a team of qualified legal consultants with expertise in recruitment law, employment law (and discrimination issues), IR35, CIS, employment status and contract issues, including
Theresa Mimnagh, LLB, qualified as a Solicitor in February 2004 and previously worked in private practice as an employment lawyer. Theresa specialises in employment law, recruitment law, discrimination, employment contracts and policies, compliance and contract matters as well as tax related issues including IR35, MSC and CIS. Theresa heads up our recruitment law client and umbrella audit team. Theresa is a regular speaker at our seminars on employment related subjects.
Ben Grover, BA (Hons), qualified as a Solicitor in October 2007 and previousuly worked in private practice. Ben works on government consultations and new laws, and specialises in recruitment and contract law, client contract review.
Rhian Phillips, BA (Hons),DipLaw/CPE, LPC. Rhian is part of the audit team and specialises in recruitment law, recruiter compliance, umbrella compliance, client contract review, contract law as well as contractor matters and tax related issues including IR35 MSC and CIS. Rhian is part of our agency and umbrella audit team, and also works with Adrian on new contract development.
Will Morris, LLB. Will works on contractor and IR35 and similar tax related issues as well as recruitment law and contract law issues. In addition Will is focused on operational matters relevant to recruitment business and assists Ravi and Adrian on operational matters. Will is also part of our agency and umbrella audit team.
Emma Hamilton, LLB. Emma works as part of our client contract review team as well as dealing with IR35, MSC and CIS matters both form an agency and a contractor perspective. Emma works with others in the umbrella audit team.
All of our legal consultants are trained in research, development skills and strategy analysis in addition to plain English delivery of advice. Together, we work as a team bringing multiple skillsets to bear on the many and complex issues relevant to agencies, freelancers and hirers of self-employed workers.
