Agency Workers Regulations 2010

On 1st October 2011 agency workers acquired enhanced rights to equal pay, working time, and holidays as well as to access to facilities at the hirer site. The rights are given under the Agency Workers Regulations 2010 (see AWR basics for a brief synopsis of the law).

The Regulations are complex and difficult with a significant risk that the unwary may be caught out. To help our clients reduce risk, devise strategy and retain commercial competitiveness we offer Total AWR Support. We also provide seminars with a focus on practical advice.

Lawspeed can also offer bespoke advice and guidance in face-to-face meetings, internal training courses and tailored briefings for agencies, consultants and their hirer clients.

Lawspeed has a significant archive of articles on this subject. Please see our AWR News page for details.

Lawspeed's involvement since 2002

Lawspeed has played a key role in relation to this issue, helping to shape the Agency Workers Regulations during the consultation process. We have followed the course of the law in the EU since 2002 and held seminars on this issue in 2002 - 2003 and numerous more recent seminars in 2008 - 2011.

We are the retained advisers to the Association of Recruitment Consultancies (ARC) which has fought a tough and successful campaign on the Regulations. The ARC is working with the Department of BIS on formulating suitable guidance for the Regulations.

Our Managing Director is one of two representatives appointed by the interparliamentary group, the Genesis Initiative, to represent UK SME organisations to the European SME organisation UAPME on the Agency Workers Regulations and related issues.

With our background in recruitment law and agency worker status since 1997, we are ideally placed to give practical advice on how to address the regulations, to find the most appropriate solution and help you to retain and win business.
