11/10/07 Compliance and New Regulation

Printer friendly version

11th October 2007 Lawspeed SEMINAR and Q&A  with HMRC, BERR (DTI) and REC

With questions relating to the MSC legislation still rumbling on after 5 months. For example. when should an agency be concerned, who can an agency deal with, is there to be an accreditation scheme, and what is the knock on effect if contractors stop using companies? With confusion at every turn, it makes sense to seek practical advice.

At the same time could your plans be affected by compliance issues? 3½ years after the implementation of the Conduct of Employment Agencies and Employment Businesses Regulations the BERRs (DTI’s) view on enforcement and areas of concern have developed. There have been two recent government consultations on changing some of the Regulations, extending the powers of the BERR to investigate instances of non compliance, and removing the limit (currently £5000) on fines where Regulations are breached. At the same time some pundits are suggesting that the BERR is beefing up its investigatory team. Is the excuse of ignorance of the Regulations wearing thin?

These developments could significantly affect the industry.

This presentation will seek to investigate and answer all your questions. Where better to get advice from than government spokesmen, the trade industry body and the UK's leading recruitment law consultancy?
