Below are some examples of where we have helped clients with specific problems. This is just a fraction of the typical problems where we can assist. Agency AAgency A specialise in permanent recruitment of board level executives at e-commerce and dot.com companies. After successfully placing a sales director by a client and a key account manager they were asked to put forward candidates for the soon to be vacated position of CEO. After putting forward a number of potential candidates the client interviewed and chose to appoint one of the candidates. It was at this point that the client questioned Agencies A’s terms and conditions and alleged that they were never agreed. Continued correspondence did not resolve the issue and Agency A decided it needed specialist help and chose Lawspeed, as experts in recruitment. We then analysed the situation and pointed out in detail the law regarding legal acceptance to Agency A’s client and demanded payment. Realising that Agency A had proper legal backing and could not be troubled aside Agency A’s client paid out the fee. Two hours of Lawspeed time secured £25k fee that was in jeopardy. Agency BAgency B wanted to expand into providing personnel to the US specialist software market but needed to ensure it did not expose itself to risk in the litigious US market. Needing fast, accurate advice Agency B asked Lawspeed to assist. We negotiated terms with a US based lawyer and assured our client had a set of a trading contracts compliant with US and UK law that fully protected Agency B’s relevant interests. Agency CAgency C placed two contractors with a client in France. At the end of the contract the parent company of Agency C’s client decided to take the contracts on permanently. The parent company decided that it wasn’t obliged to pay any fee, as it was not party to the original supply contract. Agency C recognised that they had a problem and put Lawspeed on the case. We successfully pursued Agency C’s original client overcoming the complications of cross-border enforcement. We travelled to Paris to close down the transaction and ensured Agency C received its fees. Agency DAgency D is a large multinational agency with a presence in the US, UK and European recruitment markets. Following the introduction of IR35 it had maintained a stance that the tax was the contractors problem and that it should not get involved. Realising that it may have been missing commercial opportunities they eventually decided to review their policies. Needing straightforward, practical advice it turned to Lawspeed. By going through the issues in detail with Lawspeed, Agency D was able to understand the circumstances in which ‘IR35 friendly’ contracts could be used and with detailed implementation advice, documentation and a multi country telephone link up to advise consultants and answer questions. Agency EAgency E saw that an established quality mark would set them apart from their competitors and be attractive to existing and potential clients. With this in mind they sought IS0 9002 certification, requiring comprehensive compliance with Data Protection principles. This is when they decided to approach Lawspeed for help. By conducting an onsite audit, we were able to put in place comprehensive Data Protective policy and privacy policies for Agency E and establish best practice procedures. Agency E achieved IS0 9002 accreditation and now has a clear competitive advantage. Agency FAgency F specialises in the tech sector and wanted to put its cutting
edge candidate matching facility online. Wary of the wide range of legal
issues involved in e-commerce online contract formation, Agency F approached
Lawspeed for help. We were able to analyse Agency F’s requirements
and technology and develop a system overview that complied with e-commerce,
data protection and online legal issues.
